Mission Possible!

We, the team, are proud to announce that the final draft of the report (revised by each and every member meticulously), has been completed and sent for printing!

The game plan was to have the report published and printed before the One Young World Summit. However due to time constraints and needing additional editing on the report, reviewed by all of the team members, it will  be published the week after Jonathan's and Bernie's return from the One Young World Summit.

But good news awaits! Jonathan has prepared 10 reports from a publisher for specific distribution at the summit.

The team are all looking forward to see our final published work in our hands.

Upcoming Media Apperance at The Breakfast Show

Jonathan, Mushamir and Lionel will be featuring the report for the first time through television. The show is titled The Breakfast Show and we hope that this will raise more awareness for the report. lastly, we would appreciate if you readers would turn up and watch us on television!

Indeed, One Young World and the Impact Report has been dominating our lives (and inbox) ever since. We are striving hard to complete this in full faith that the final product will be received most positively by the Nation and the World.

Following up with our first meeting with Mr Ahmad Izham Omar, COO of 8TV, we have been in touch with the group regularly. Today, we met up with Airin Zainul and Kit Yow regarding sponsorship matters.

As usual, me and Jon left prepared for their Studio Headquarters next to 1Utama Shopping Complex. Fellow writer Lionel couldn't make it at the last minute unfortunately.

Meeting in the 'War Room', we set up the projectors and waited for them to arrive. 

Coming to the room, we greeted each other, and set out to explain about our initiative with the One Young World Impact Report through our power-point slides. Quite a number of challenging questions came our way but we answered them all. 

As TV show producers, what they want most is airtime, they explained. Publicity is not a problem, they will find slots for us for they like the content. Both of them really wanted to help us by giving us the platform to talk about the report as well as sponsorship matters ( i.e. online, Tonton.com.my). Furthermore, they strongly suggested us making an appearance on the 8TV Quickie & The Breakfast Show (ntv7). 

Even though the sponsorship matter has still not been resolved, we were happy with having solved the publicity question. They'll also Tweet for us, and have been asking if we have Tweeted much. So far we've Tweeted these blog posts only to #OneYoungWorld, with no replies as of yet.

Overall, they want to help us through the media, to show that Malaysia can be proud over what youths, Malaysian youths can, and has, done.

What Youth Category are you?

This is  a classification of what type of youth activist one could fit into.


There are Youth Activists, Professionals, Artists and Media Partners. 


The One Young World Impact Report Team believes we are in the Youth Media Partners category, obviously, due to the nature of our report in trying to connect with audiences in Malaysia and the world.


The Impact report has also collected projects done by youths from all sectors and categories, be it Artists, Media Partners or Professional. 

Of which category do you think do you fit in?

Youth Activists / Youth Workers.

Youth activists are people who are actively take part in positive change within their communities around the world through their projects, trainings, peer-to-peer teaching initiatives and social enterprises.

1. Youth Professionals.

Young people involved in professional careers or leading their own social enterprises non and for-profit businesses. They are able to share their valuable practical experience and discuss how businesses work for people and the planet.

1. Youth Artists, Musicians and young people interested in art.

Young people interested in art are those who seek to create new and powerful tools to tackle global issues through their art. They are painters, dancers, sculptures, actors, musicians, etc and are all trying to share their important experiences.

 1.    Young Media Partners.

Young Media Partners can be involved in many communication forms such as; Print, radio, TV and online news papers companies, international press groups and agencies. They present young people in a positive light – who feel that youth are not just citizens-in-waiting, but people who can actually contribute now in constructive ways to community, national and global improvement.

The Meeting With Bhg. Datuk Mohd Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)

We took a wrong turn to the wrong room at first.

Datuk Badlisham, and me discuss about the upcoming report. He commented on the title of the report, and hence we have added the tag line "Youths Are All Talk No Action?". 

Datuk Badlisham jumped in the bandwagon with his approval to print the One Young World Impact Report with flying colors. He makes note that many rural Malaysians especially do not know about the opportunities and projects that can benefit them. There are project models which can inspire  those most affected in rural areas to create change themselves. 

The report must also be translated into Bahasa Malaysia so as to increase the accessibility of reading this report to all Malaysians.

The meeting, a success, ended with MDeC's firm support of sponsoring the printing costs of the report - and as a bonus, they will be giving us their MSC jackets!

Announcing Our Meeting With Bhg. Datuk Mohd Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)

Tomorrow, we are meeting the YBhg. Datuk Mohd Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).

As a team, we are to discuss about their options for publishing our One Young World Youth Impact Report, just like they have published the first report last year. 

We are also to encourage them to sponsor us to the Second Annual One Young World Summit 2011 in Zurich, Switzerland.

MDec oversees Malaysia’s National ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Initiative and with its logo "Driving Transfromation", we believe that we are on par with their Vision to bring forth "Leadership in the Information Age" with our One Young World Impact Report.

An Important Meeting with the COO of 8TV

 At the Media Prima HQ, which houses TV networks such as TV 3, 8TH, TV9, ntv7, radio networks such as Hot FM, Fly FM, One Fm as well as advertising boards under its brand name Big Tree.

We the team met at Centerpoint at 9am and brainstormed until 10.45am. We did the One Young World presentation powerpoint together and decided that the angle we will use is - to highlight how our report aims to serve two purpose : give the youth leaders the recognition they need, and to encourage the young people that it is possible to make a change.

We met with Mr Ahmad Izham Omar, COO of 8TV. He was really, really friendly. We started the meeting at 11.10am and went really quick in explaining to him what One Young World, 'Our Future Says' and 'Impact' reports are all about. And finally, we asked him about the sponsorship.

He looked at it, and having 50% covered by myHarapan was really a great help. He said that he will look into it and speak to the sponsorship department. He also mentioned that it's a really good programme, and we believe he sees the goodness of OYW.

5th Annual Malaysian Student Leaders Summit 2011

The Malaysian Student Leaders Summit (MSLS) is the only flagship event UKEC hosts in Malaysia. Now in its fifth year, the summit serves as an avenue for intellectual and productive dialogue between Malaysian student leaders and prominent national figures from myriad fields. Through MSLS, it is hoped that participants will develop a better understanding of the issues facing our nation, and hence be better prepared to undertake the unique challenges that lie ahead in charting the way forward for Malaysia.

The summit,  held for 2 full days, sees the participation of about 800 Malaysian student leaders from various universities across the globe. The summit, entirely free of charge for participants, aims to foster development of our future leaders and provide them with an open, non-partisan avenue for intellectual discourse.

 Featuring speakers like YB Tan Sri Dato' Nor Mohamed Yakcob, Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah, Dr. Hartini Zainudin, Dr. Jomo Kwame Sundaram, YB Khairy Jamaluddin, YB Nurul Izzah and Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Razak who gave the closing address.

147,936 people IMPACTED!

We're working as hard as we can to get ourselves to One Young World as we would like to present to the Delegates and Counselors the follow up report we have been working on, called "One Young World 'IMPACT" Report 2011".

This report highlights 100 projects led by 68 youth leaders from 62 separate and different societies. And the most amazing thing about this report is that the projects involved 7,536 volunteers and impacted 147,936 people! That was a wow even to us!
